From the start Faded Gray Lines sucks you in. When Leighton accidentally kills her boyfriend, she calls her brother for help, who in turn calls in the Carrera Cartel to help protect her. Add in a DEA agent who is after the cartel and holds her secret against her and all hell breaks loose. I figured out he secret pretty early on but I had no idea where the next threat would come from. Cora Kenborn weaves together a story of lies and deception, layers upon layers of it. Where you don’t know who you can trust or what people are really saying. Add in the hurt and betrayal of Mateo and Leighton’s past and this is an emotional rollercoaster with dark elements. I loved how this book worked out and Leighton’s strength. I love that the female characters in this series are just as ruthless, if not more so, than their Cartel men. They are strong, fierce fighters who are independent and give the men in their lives a run for their money. I cannot wait to read Brody’s story in Drawn Blue Lines. My reading experience has show that mafia books are hit or miss but Faded Gray Lines and the Carrera Cartel series is a fantastic, fast-paced and bloody ride full of love, violence, deception and loyalty. No one is who they seem, danger is everywhere and love wins out.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession and Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.
