First off, Soundbooth theater has spoiled me with the sound effects and the music added to the narration. It makes for an unbelievably immersive experience. I’m not sure if normal audio books will be enough.

The story is good, but not great. Things just seem to happen without much build up too them. There is a spot in the story where the MC’s debt could have raise the stakes in both worlds, but there was zero backlash cause by the debt. One of the long build up that was in the story had a super disappointing climax. What makes the story good and worth your time are the characters, their banter with each other, their development, their battles, and the 2 “worlds” they do it all in. All the different cultures coming together makes for funny conversations. The battles are well described, with sound effects backing the descriptions. The world interactions of those playing monster hunt makes for some funny and tense moments. The MC trying to keep track of what is truly important is thought provoking. Some might say he is a fool, and then again some might say he is chasing happiness.

Overall I think this is definitely worth the credit. I found myself sitting in my car listening after my drive home from work. I just did not want to stop in the middle of the chapter.
