I. Loved. This. Book. From the very first sentence to the very last, this book was something special. It was inventive and funny and thrilling. We had a narcissistic “bad” guy. A good guy anti-hero. A misunderstood but incredibly badazz femme fatale. This book had it all! It had adult humor and 13-year-old boy humor. We had guy code and girl code. There were gamers and gaming. There was a romance and a bromance. There were Russians and Chinese. Oh yeah, and there were aliens. Lots and lots of aliens.
This was an incredibly fun listen!!! I can not even begin to tell you how many times I laughed out loud. Not smile, not chuckle, but a hysterical laugh that surely disturbed the people in my vicinity. (No cares were given.) At the very satisfying end to this saga, when you think all the day-saving heroics are done, the final chapter just went next level. I would love to hang out with this author!!!!
Time must be sent to wax poetic about the incredible cast of narrators. They were insanely good!!! Insanely. Good. The chapters went back and forth between Stone and Hale (pronounced ‘hal-lay’) and the narrators killed it! They struck the perfect balance between silly and serious. Stone was a hardcore alpha male with a snarky side and he was performed to perfection. Hale was a take-no-prisoners wonder woman and she too, was incredibly well-narrated.
This is my first Jeremy Robinson book but I am a believer!!!
