Ok this is my fault. I didn’t realize this was a bully romance and generally speaking I don’t like bully romances. This one didn’t change my mind.
I did enjoy the premise of this book. A secret remote university where the criminal underground sends their children to learn unconventional skills and make new alliances sounds fascinating. Add in the children from two rival families and there is bound to be some pretty extreme conflicts especially when killing isn’t allowed on campus. That leaves these plenty of room for these deviants to get creative.
But I felt like these books were too long. The bullying got repetitive and started to lose its impact. I also didn’t really like any of the characters. But there was something satisfying about terrible things happening to these terrible people.
These books are dark so please check CW/TW.
Connor Brown and Zara Eden did a wonderful job narrating and they were one of my favorite parts of this series. I loved Connor’s voice. It was deep but also youthful, I believed that he could be Quinton. Zara did a great job portraying Aspen’s fear and naïveté.
