Cute but very low stakes.

Honestly, the only thing that really stands between these two is Derek’s internalized homophobia, which gets frustrating to listen too. Especially when he keeps insisting that Maxim (a man whom is attempting to immigrate from a country where homosexuality is illegal) doesn’t understand how hard it is to come out. *eyeroll*.

I was a little hesitant reading the reviews, but it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Bruce CANNOT do a Russian accent, and I wished he hadn’t tried. But either he gave it up or I stopped noticing by halfway through. He’s a little dry, but that makes him a good casting for Derek in my opinion. Joel was impeccable. I liked that he kept the character’s accent through the narration as well as the dialog.

Not a book I’d bother listening to/reading again, but not bad either.
