This book, as the first in a series of four, really sets the tone for the whole thing. These brothers are the demonic version of cinnamon rolls, with a generous side of murder. Cal is absolutely adorable in how he cares for and protects Oscar. The entire story is well written and although it handles some more difficult subjects, it does so with a lot of care and compassion but also without dimming the budding love between Cal and Oscar. Calley is an excellent narrator, with Leslie complimenting well. There were some points where Leslie didn’t seem quite in sync with the character, but it was an overall good performance. Absolutely worth reading both this and the entire series.
