Everything about this book was cringe, from beginning to the end, except for the fight scenes. Blaise Corvin has a knack for writing riveting and gory fight scenes that belong in a LitRPG book like this but every interaction between characters is pure cringe. The love triangles forged are seemingly from thin air, with characters developing affections for each other despite having nothing in common. One of those relationships is even based off slavery and the sexual interactions between characters read like the worst literotica you can find on the internet. As another reviewer here wrote, the two main characters have the ‘chemistry of a bad tinder date’ and they couldn’t be more right. The author forces us to believe they have an unbreakable bromance but it is weak, shallow, and feels more like they are two dudes doing a group project in class. I honestly should have gotten a refund for this travesty of writing but will just have to placate myself by not buying the sequels.
