The Last Storm was written by Jack Hunt and narrated by Kevin Pierce. The main character is Alex Riley a law enforcement officer who moves his family to an isolated Alaskan town where everyone mostly lives in a huge high rise close to the coastline. The man he replaced had helped a Drug Lord with his heroin operation before killing himself before the truth came out.

Officer Riley’s first day on the job is also the start of a mega-storm. With the Drug Lord in town accompanied by his gang of thugs looking for his hidden heroin in the High Rise filled with the town’s citizens, things will only get worse for the people of Whittier, Alaska. The rest of the story unfolds like more of a crime thriller and less post-apocalyptic story until the very end of the story. The author gets a little preachy with the global warming message.

The narration by Kevin Pierce was just awesome. When it comes to the Post Apocalyptic genre he is the go-to vocal talent. Mr. Pierce is able to voice the feelings of the characters in these difficult situations. Mr. Pierces can quickly get you invested in almost any story he narrates and the characters. The audience is along for the journey with characters and most enjoying every minute of it. Since this audiobook was more crime thriller than Post Apocalyptic it was Mr. Pierce’s narration that kept me around to finish the audiobook. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
