I’d like to say the narrator ruined this book for me, but the writing is just not good. The story reeks of fanfiction level writing skills. Actually, I feel like I’ve read better fanfiction. The dialogue is clunky and there are a lot of info dumps. I don’t think the author knows about “show don’t tell.” Anyways, the main aggressor is the overly dramatic tone used by the narrator. His terrible inflections kept distracting me as if his words were spinach stuck in his teeth, kept pulling me out of suspension of disbelief. Long story short, this book might be enjoyable to a young adult – VERY young adult. Otherwise, I’d not bother with this book.
