As someone who works with sexually abused children, I had a very hard time getting through the story. It’s noteworthy that I can’t speak to the ending. I chose to stop reading when it appeared as though both the protagonist and the author were condoning and normalizing abusive and emotionally reckless choices. Hopefully I just didn’t give it enough time and it had a different outcome than I suspect.
