This was one of the very few Audible books that I had to return for a credit. I ended up reading it on Kindle and liked the story, but the narrator was terrible on the audio book. While some of his characters were good, his narrator voice was unbearable. The way he spoke almost every sentence made me cringe. Seriously. It was that bad. Please listen to the entire sample before buying this to make sure you like that speaking style. Inexplicably, some people seemed to actually enjoy it, but I, for one, will avoid any titles with this narrator.
The story itself was not as good as some Jeremy Robinson works for sure, but was enjoyable EXCEPT for all the unnecessary and graphic killing of animals, especially horses. The gory nature of some parts was difficult to take. At least in the Kindle version, it was easier to skip over those parts when I realized they were coming
