I like Regency romance and I love murder mysteries. I’ve read tons of MC Beaton, Christie, Marsh and Doyle. I really wanted to like this book. I’m always on the lookout for a good series, and I liked the characters for the most part, I just found them unbelievable, especially the heroine. I think you have to have characters that the reader can believe lived in the time the novel is set and I just didn’t believe it. It didn’t suck me in. I also didn’t care for the narrator. His Scottish accent may have been dead on, but to me it sounded quite tortured and difficult to decipher.
Also, there were some pretty big plot holes at the end of the book, not all of which were resolved and it seemed to take forever to wind up all the lose ends.

I received this book for free in return for an honest review.
