I was genuinely interested in the story, but so much is wasted on the author/characters ranting about their hatred of Americans. Anyone who’s not a right-wing, libertarian, gun-toting, religious person from Texas is in the line of fire from the author. Even the US military is depicted as inept, incompetent, and cowardly. if the author spent more time on the story and less on virtual signaling his right-wing politics, this might actually be a decent post-apocalyptic novel.
