Book Two of the ‘Days of Want’ series is equally as good as the first. I loved the first book and wanted to make sure to get a listen to the second so I requested a free review copy and am now voluntarily leaving this review.

This book delves into what life will be like for those who are prepared for an EMP strike. The characters and situations that T. L. Payne describes in this book are completely believable. I especially liked all the little details that explain what it means to be prepared in an EMP disaster. There is plenty of action and suspense as well. This book is well-researched and well-written.

We get three POVs in this book. Maddie, making her way from Illinois to Missouri with her group; her mother, Beth, trying to get from California to her kids and husband; and Ames, an official with FEMA, where sinister things are brewing. If I have any gripes at all about this book (and the previous one), it would be that the author leaves Beth’s and Ames’ POVs to concentrate almost solely on Maddie during most of the second half of both books.

Narration by Kevin Pierce is excellent. He conveys the emotions so well that I found myself tearing up at the dramatic and touching sections and on the edge of my seat during the thrilling action scenes. Book 3, here I come!

Very highly recommended.
