- If you could sum up In Ashes Born in three words, what would they be?
- Very Character Driven
- Who was your favorite character and why?
- Ishmael always Ishmael. I know him best so I know he will always surprise me with how he anticipates a situation, how he analyzes a situation and how creative he is in coming up with a solution and the way in which he carries it out. After all of the books that I have experienced Ishmael continues to surprise and impress me. This is a series that I have always been sad about the book being completed because it is so character driven and not your typical Sci-fi adventure I miss the characters between books.
- What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- At first I was extremely disappointed and down right PO’d that Nathan Lowell did not do the narration this time. It has been 5 books with him and I thought he did an excellent job telling the story he wrote. Halfway thru (I held a grudge) I finally could deal with another narrator invading my favorite series and not long after I thought he did a great job. I will always be partial to Mr Lowell. If he had only narrated one or two books it might have been easier to accept someone else but not five books. So it does say a lot about Mr Kafer’s abilities as a story teller to get me to accept him and enjoy the story and I did not think I was going to be able to get thru the book. However my love of the story and the characters kept me tuned in . I think Mr Kafer understood the characters and the farther into the story we went it the better he was at performing and the better he was able to portray each character.
- If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
- Finally a Science Fiction story everyone will love.
- Any additional comments?
- I can only say that this is the only sci-fi story that really tugged at my emotions and reminded me of how us humans need to always do the next right thing and as long as we do we have a better shot at having a full life.
