As a mother, it was difficult at places in this book to just yell at some of the characters, they seemed so real. Azlana is 10 years old, yet seems so much older at times. She is half elf, half human, and the elves are waiting for her powers to emerge, since she has become Queen of the elves. However, no-one asks her if she is feeling different, hearing things or other symptoms of emerging. The mother doesn’t know what to ask, but is very supportive. The shaman/witch and the elven prince know, but by tradition, don’t. The plot twines around this lack of communication. I enjoyed the book, and must state that I received it for free for an unbiased review.
