I enjoy post-apocalyptic literature. Shute’s On The Beach, McCarthy’s The Road, Stewart’s Earth Abides are among my favorites. But this is a political harangue from an extreme right-wing perspective, ever so preachy and clunky. The shallow characters are survivalists with the foresight to see that the government wants to confiscate our guns in order to herd us into concentration camps. The evil President, a Democrat named Abdullah, is a traitor. It celebrates a senator who mounts a military campaign to overturn an election that had been decided by the House in accordance with the Constitution, because it thwarted the will of “the people.” Women are reassigned to domestic roles for which they are best suited. The only good thing about this book is that it gives you insight into the mindset of a significant segment of society.
