The story itself is cliche. If you want a run-of-the-mill fantasy with bland characters that have little depth other than they are all victims. And once Nadine is introduced she becomes the author’s darling with the whole second book being about how Jaces and Nadine hook up. Jaces’ character is supercilious and Nadine is your one-dimensional Princess. We met an archer who has red hair and green eyes and is a superb archer…can we say BRAVE? The characters are constantly referring to ethics and morals, but no bases are given from the views the characters hold. It seems the author is wanting us to apply Judeo Christian belief system. Then we have a system of gods that empower a human with their powers making them Super Wizards. Which he never explains in the first 3 books why the gods do this. Then there is why the “good” gods need human sacrifice twice a year. I could go on about how bad these books are but this is about all the time I care to take on it. The narration is flat also. Read with a monotone voice that sounds like they are bored with the story.
