While this story is definitely based on the Cinderella fairytale, there is also very much a 10 Things I Hate About You vibe to it, and a very deliciously dark fae, magical twist to it. Ella and Tray’s relationship definitely starts off on a rocky foot, given Ella’s history with bullies and needing to protect herself, but when they finally get past all the mistrust, their relationship sizzles in every way possible. I probably took a little too much joy in the payback and revenge, but it was all so much fun to read. And the dynamic between Ella and Tray is fantastic, her snark and sass to his alpha, cocky ego; but underneath it all, we get her vulnerability, and his need to protect and support her, it what makes them such a great couple in the end.
