Wow the opening scene when Demi is called upon to check on Charlie and finds him crying is such an emotional start to this audiobook. Quite the emotional scene to set the pace for this book. Shocking and emotional right from the get go. After that first encounter between Charlie and Demi, I didn’t see his disrespectful treatment of her coming. You’re going to want to smack him up side the head for how he treats Demi. But she’s not going to let that stop her because she really needs the job to support her sick father. There’s a backstory about the Ryderville Elite that might be a good thing to read or hear before this book. But it does state it as a standalone and the story and characters are fully developed by themselves yet I’m desperately needing to hear about the other members of the Elite now too. Sarah Puckett always gives an emotionally charged performance and I love all her characters. There are even realistic children in this book that she pulls into your heart while listening to this. Michael Gallagher is new to me, his performance was spot on for Charlie, I’m interested in seeking out more from him, his characters here resonate with them really well . #AudiobookObsessionReviewer #theflock #pinkflamingoproductions
