I cannot STAND Maddison and found myself cussing a lot listening to her idiocy. She has one braincell and an absolutely intolerable messiah complex with no critical thinking or skills to back anything up. And the fact that her parents coddle her and go along with her “save the world even if my friends get killed” BS makes me want to punch them all in the throat. Utterly insufferable! The mom, Tracy, was the only one with a slight modicum of sense and bravery, and even she went along with Maddison’s harebrained schemes. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Maddison comes across like a self-righteous entitled brat who has never been told NO in her spoiled life and doesn’t learn a lesson – ever! And when they invaded Chico and Walter killed college students, ZERO acknowledgement was made that innocent people were killed while trying to muddle through Maddison’s messiah complex. The dad should’ve known better – he DID know better – but he didn’t DO better. Why everyone caters to a literal dumbass like Maddison is beyond me. I cannot finish it. One other thing – the female who was doomed to narrate Maddison gasped before every sentence, which made Maddison even more unlikable if that is even possible. This book is my first intro to the author and I doubt I’ll try another. It’s the first audiobook I’ve ever abandoned mid-story! I hung in there as long as I could because of Kevin Pierce but even he couldn’t save the story from the cuck characters! I do not recommend.
