The wonky intricacies of policy, technology and politics as they relate to saving the world are great. The novelistic elements suck. KSR gives us no reason to really believe in or care about Frank and Mary. They have these long dialogues that say nothing that furthers a plot or adds to the story. Lots of wasted words in this book. I think the book’s editor dropped the ball. That said, it’s an important book to slog through solely for its expansive vision of how humans might tackle climate change.
