TRUE CRIME has been compared a lot to the works of Jack Ketchum, particularly The Girl Next Door. I believe the comparison is apt, though Samantha Kolesnik’s novella shook me much more to my core than Ketchum’s grindhouse inspired books. It’s an unpredictable piece of psychological horror that left unsettled and heartbroken.

Personally, I think its one of the best pieces of American serial killer fiction you’ll come across. I haven’t been this obsessed with a book of this sort since I read Jim Thompson’s The Killer Inside Me. Beautifully narrated by Jennifer Pickens, the audible version is a must-have for fans of uncompromisingly hard horror fiction.
