Don’t be fooled by the negative reviews. Some bad things do happen to the MC but that’s par for the course with progression fantasy; the MC needs challenges to grow. And make no mistake, there is a clear sense of progression and payoff.
Beyond that, the modern setting is really fresh and I felt just as spoiled listening to this as to Death Cultivator or Cradle. It’s got that rare sense of discovery where you can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner. Great characters including an awesome MC who is super easy to cheer on. I also love books like this which respect your time and have fast plot development.
Another stellar performance from Travis.
