maybe this is teen literature and I, unknowingly, listened to it and thought it was silly. Whether it’s for teenagers I don’t know, but it definitely looks like it was written by one: shallow and obvious characters (from the protagonist tailored to please the overweight prepper reader to the irrationally evil middle eastern goons yelling Alahu Akbar) , a plot with all the teen movie clichés (like the gun wound that “the bullet went right through, here, have some antibiotics and you’ll be just fine”) and, worst of all, majority of the book involves a corny and very predictable romance. Maybe it has a brilliant and shocking ending that fixes the boredom of the rest of the book, but I’d never know — couldn’t finish it.
