MC kills a monster 30 levels higher than him and jumps nearly that many levels. A system glitch gets him 1 level more so he can shift classes to the exact class that will allow him to save the day. The LitRPG elements feel bolted on, was the book rejected without them and added later?

I get that LitRPG is hot now, it seems like a dozen new books in the genre come out every month. Once you have your character defeat opponents 20 levels higher than them you have made your level system silly. There is just no need for it. If levels don’t matter, don’t have them.

This was a good, even great story, adding LitRPG elements felt like a way to sell the book instead of a way to enhance the story.
