- Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
- Absolutely! I loved the story. It was action packed and exciting, but it was short enough to listen to in just a couple of hours!
- Who was your favorite character and why?
- Crispin was the main character. I found his character evolution fascinating. He starts out as a small child who is learning to use his magic. He is totally controlled by his father, and he spends many years thinking that his mother tried to kill him. He is steeped in evil for so long, but it seems that he might choose differently in the end.
- Have you listened to any of Sarah Puckett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
- No, I have not listened to any others.
- Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
- I was definitely moved when Crispin’s mother saw him when he was 5 years old. As a mother, I found that whole situation just totally heart-wrenching. It would (as his father did say about Crispin’s mother) turn me into a shell of a person to be away from my child for so long. Then when she was killed, that was just despicable. Another moment that moved me was when Crispin actually did kill his father. He was so totally evil, it seemed just to me. However, I have a feeling it only served to set Crispin down a dark path.
- Any additional comments?
- I did feel like the narration was a little slow, but I just found out that there is a way to speed it up. I also really enjoyed the excerpts that were included at the end. What a great idea!
