The story is good, but typically this author writes heroes I respect—heroes we know America needs. In this series all of the males—accept the one not married, are ruled over by their dominant, smarter, tougher, wives. The men may be military vets of grave heroism—but even that guy has a marine wife who is a mapping and sniper hard as-nails no-nonsense character. It is very hard to respect men dominated by their female partners. Turning things upside down in our world hasn’t helped—and more than any other aspect of this story, this one thing stands out. I regret it and am unsure if I can continue reading it. The main character presents powerfully, then asks his wife permission to do what must be done. Why? I wonder if this is truly the work of the stated author.
