Wow, Rick R. Reed pens another beautifully emotional and heartfelt novel, one that not only captivates your attention from start to end but does some serious tugging on your heartstrings too. The characters and storylines are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Randy Kay did everything that was expected of him, settled down and married his girlfriend Violet and started a family, except this is not the life he wanted. He loves his wife and son but is not in love with her, he prefers men and finally admits that he is gay, to himself and his wife. He hated not being able to be himself, so much that he was not sure he could live like that anymore. When he opens up to Violet, she is understanding and tells him to find a man that will make him happy. He has hidden his true self so long he is not sure where he fits in and going out to socialize with other men is new to him. John Walsh, spotted him in a bar in Boystown, saw that he looked like he was out of his element, but was also attracted to him, though it did not work out for them that night. It was not their time yet, but they meet up again at a mutual friend’s home and it was the start of their relationship but Randy still needed to figure things out and then he is dealing with the aftermath of a failed marriage and bigoted in- laws who try to keep his son away from him, I wanted to strangle them so bad. Gay men faced so many obstacles in the past, while we have come a way since then not all obstacles are gone for the LGBTQIA+ community, which is sad. Randy and John’s journey was not an easy one, but I was rooting for them both and I loved the ending. Rick R. Reed, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the exceptional narration, Reed cast the perfect narrator to bring his story and characters to life. David Allen Vargo does an amazing job portraying these characters and does so with a complete understanding of who are, and he falls into the roles like he is stepping in to their shoes and telling you their story like it was his own to tell. He gives each character their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance and has you feeling every single one. He sets the perfect tone for the story and the quality of his performance and the audio is top-notch, which enhances the story to another level. Vargo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.
