The narrator sounds like a doddering older gentleman. His slow cadence and sloppy annunciation presents the highschool-age protagonist as a petulant child with a hard-on for villainy.

What could have been an interesting take on the anti hero in a litrpg turned into a long and unpleasant insight into how this kid channels his energy into a VR game instead of a school shooting. I cringed I heard “…an evil smile crept onto his face…” being whispered through my headphones.

If I can spare even one person from suffering the same then this review was worth the time it took to write. Maybe try the paperback and give the story a fighting chance.
