The series hooks you after 15 minutes and after that is impossible to put down. This book is a really fantastic example of the subgenre of fantasy centering around a lovable, mysterious, insanely OP protagonist, neither ever getting boring (as of the middle of the 5th book) for lack of challenge or strife to overcome, or ever seeming heavy handed or unnatural. The series (a mere first attempt by the author) admittedly lacks the literary refinement and epic scope of (e.g.) the Kingkiller chronicles, but any reader down-to-earth enough to get past a nom de plume like “TurtleMe” (lol by the way) is likely to find it just as entertaining. Better yet, the author seems to improve as he writes, so the books only get better as the series progresses. Also reminded me of the Summoner series and Kings dark tidings.
