Jeffrey L. Kohanek has crafted a splendid follow-on to the series. Here we have the fellowship split to acquire a number of objects of power that the seer’s from book 3 prophesied were needed on their next quest. In accomplishing these tasks they encounter new races and beasts and, of course, several near death battles along the way. The war between the wizard lords continue separately and, mostly, do not directly involve our intrepid MCs. Even so, the toppling of these mighty wizards is done in creative ways and several times where serendipity unconvincingly seems at play. There are some dangling old grudges that finally get settled and new alliances being joined. All in all, the book moves this story along keeping the listener engaged and entertained.
Travis Baldree’s performance is special, as always.
