I absolutely LOVE the John Pickett mystery series by Sheri Cobb South. This time, John is still struggling with his insecurities over marrying the wealthy, older, more sexually experienced Julia (formerly Lady Fieldhurst, as he attempts to solve another case. Although the two clearly love each other, failed communication, misconceptions, insecurity, and a focus on things that don’t really matter threaten their happy ending. This is a wonderful listen, and the narrator really captures John’s angst and internal struggle as he tries to prove to himself that he is worthy of Julia. The ending is perfect, and I can’t wait for more. As an aside, the Magistrate remains one of my favorite characters. His wisdom and kindness, despite his gruff exterior, make him the best friend John could ever have, and his wry humor gives the books more than a few laughs.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
