The Trouble with You is a mixture of many tropes/genres – brother’s best friend, bully, enemies to loves, and sports. It was an entertaining YA/NA listen, but there were a few times I was just left shaking my head. These characters didn’t act like they were seniors in High School, and I feel like it would have been better if they had been in college. The bullying and “pranks” that take place in this one had practically zero repercussions, and I often wondered where the adults/parents were. One incident in particular was especially vile and degrading and I’m not sure why this assault was not taken to the authorities. The “boys will be boys” mentality was hard to get past and had me rolling my eyes throughout. That said, it still had me intrigued enough to want to find out what was going to happen with our characters. The epilogue set up the next book and I’m curious to find out more about Jason & Felicity.

The narration was great and I enjoyed both Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett’s performances. They voice male and female characters well and I didn’t have trouble differentiating between characters. Wen Ross has a deep and sexy voice, but I did feel that it was a bit too deep/mature for 18 year old Cameron. Overall, this was an angsty and entertaining listen.
