Bagwell does a great job setting up Jason’s challenges and situation, but because they were just constantly present in this book, it felt like a constantly high level of stress and frustration that a more socially competent person could have easily escaped.
I understand Jason is a teenager, but combined with the fact that this book is so long, it just generally feels like a depressing slog at times.
