Lailani even has to search for an hour glass. Fitting don’t you think? It’s Lailani’s journey that keeps me going. Real Sci fi. Ship battles. A lovable robot. A loyal dog. And Lailani is a snarky hero that is has super powers and embraces her weaknesses and strengths and does something with them. Not whining and crying and hurting people like Marco. Even Ben Ari makes me sick sometimes. She was such a great character. A strong woman that now needs a man to be the best she can be. Needs approval though she has saved the world. She had stood up to alien bosses but older men make her quiver and quake? Please. This is a big step back. Where are our smart heroes. They are stupid and still… We have caveman lying on the tarmac, and beast and sheriff and elvis and the tunnels of Corpus and Abbadon. Seriously. 7 books in. 10 years later. And are we always just good to eat? Do our babies taste like chicken? Our women good in bed? Must be a better reason to want to destroy us. Bad TV? Or bad literature.? Bet that’s it.
