“Joker” is by far my favorite audio book in the Hell’s Ankhor series, in equal measures because of the story and the fantastic narration of David Allen Vargo. I hadn’t been expecting such a deep, emotional story, but perhaps that’s fitting seeing as Joker himself is a much deeper well than he’d have others believe. Joker discovering his own self-worth and finding the strength to reveal his true self to his Hell’s Ankhor Crew brothers and to Brennan is at times raw, hopeful, heartbreaking, and heartwarming, and I loved it.
Narrator David Allen Vargo delivers another fantastic performance in this series, including voicing an especially unique accent for Joker, and his narration alone is worth giving this a listen. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
