Book 6 of Ali Lyda’s ‘Get Ink’d’ series sees enemies-to-lovers, forbidden-love and single-dad tropes play out in a romance between playboy tattooist Eryk and closeted Hollywood star Milo. After a violent confrontation between the two over Eryk’s heretofore unknown paternity, he and Milo attempt to compromise over Sophia’s custody. Along the way, feelings between the two men develop.

I guess insta-love should be added to the trope mix because Eryk and Milo get over their animosity about Sophia pretty quickly. Once they start to get together the story turns into more of a Milo-has-to-stay-closeted-for-his-career type of story. Eryk is willing to keep it quiet, until he can’t. Will Milo choose career over love?

Lyda is also setting up for the Get Ink’d shop to expand to Las Angeles during this installment of the series. Eryk is going to move to be closer to his daughter. He helps in scouting out places to set up shop and hiring artists to work alongside him. The reader is introduced to a couple of these new guys. One of these new artists, along with another newly introduced character, will become the leads in the next book, which becomes clear with a scene added at the end of this one. I’m looking forward to that story; it should be just as interesting as all the others.

Conner Brown does a good job narrating. I think there could be a little more distinction among the characters’ voices, but overall the delivery is well-done.

I requested this audiobook as a free review copy and I am now leaving an hostess opinion for it.
