As multiple People have allrwasy stated, this feels like the future of fantasy storytelling. Ml Wang is not afraid of taking risks and does so with confidence. She takes choices with the narrative that most author never do, at least not with western fantasy books. The world feels expansive and diverse, yet only takes place in a single Mountain Village. Wang perfectly captures the feeling of isolation and inslular society, and deftly sprinkles tdbits about the world around it. Not gonna spoil anything else, this story simply has to be experienced.
