This is a sarcastic, amusing story. I liked the summary at the beginning of different chapters. Although it gave you a vague idea of what the chapter would be about, it was fun to see how the incidents would play out. The story follows the main character (the “villain coach” Shadow Master) as he is drawn into another world by one of his clients whom he is to teach how to truly be a villain. In his arrogance Shadow Master gets manipulated and duped. Now he has to use all he’s got to get him back to his realm, including some “heroes” he meets along the way.

This book is part of a series, and although the end leaves you in no doubt there is more to come, this book comes to a resolution. You do not need to read the next book to find out how this dilemma ends yet, I believe you’ll want to find out what the next adventure is all about (as do I).

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator. He did well voicing the characters, each were distinct. I thoroughly enjoyed how he brought out Jackson’s self-aggrandizing arrogance and the nephew’s apparent detachment. It had me laughing several times. I would listen to another book read by him.

There are no explicit scenes sex or excessive violence or swearing.

This is the first book I’ve read /listened to by this author. Given the chance, it won’t be the last.
