Despite the “fantasy” setting and the Western(?) character names, I read enough Chinese novels to recognize the genre. Once I recognize the patterns and tropes I can’t continue anymore… This book mixes Chinese names with Western ones, and I hate unexplained stupid fusions like this. Heck, if I wanted to read a xiuxian book I’ll read it in chinese.

2 star for the narrator because while he narrates well enough, the more Chinese-ish names are totally pronounced wrong and I can’t stand it.
