This book speaks volumes to the inner strength of women, and in saying that, I’m not minimizing the strength of men…. The inner fortitude that these women possessed, in such a long ago era, has emerged in our present times in many different ways… At first, I had some difficulty with the voice of the Reader until I reminded myself that this was a story written about life in the early 1900s , and set mainly in the South… I realized then that the Reader’s voice was totally appropriate to that time frame and locale…
For anyone who has ever sewn or has had someone close teach them to sew, this book is like a step-back-in-time on another level…I would highly recommend this book … There are more complex psychological aspects than meets the eye on first read !
