The concept is great! The story is pretty good! Jeff Hays’ voice acting is 2nd to none!

But for some reason nobody who worked on this book felt the need to mention in the description that it’s a tsundere, through and through, specifically the type of tsundere where the female abuses the male nonstop for no reason, but in this case, she never warms up to him, and it never ends!

I can’t stand tsundere even for a short period, but this is just horrible. And to make matters worse, instead of the typical abusive human female, it is a fat, entitled CAT! Yes, a cat!

So for those of you who cringe every time you watch a tsundere anime/tv show/movie, expect this to be MUCH worse!

I mean, the dude is a literal walking vagina. He actively CHOOSES to NOT stand up for himself, over and over again! Every single time! The cat is his ex-GF’s. She cheated on him with 3 people at the same time! And now he’s not only okay with having the fat cat as a reminder of that (as if the apocalypse wasn’t painful enough), but he’s also cherishing the cat and is letting her treat him in any sadistic way she wants!

She even kept embarrassing him at an inter-galactic TV talk show, but all he did is smiled and waved! I just can’t……

Additionally, all he does is having the same exact depressing realization over and over nonstop, throughout the whole book: “This is real. Millions of people have died in the last few days.” Yes, dude! Actually, billions! And yeah, it must be pretty flipping sad and scary, but if you keep repeating it over and over, I think Imma throw up one of these times!

The other issue is that I wish this book had at least a few intense moments, which it doesn’t. So far I am 60% through the book, and there has been nothing intense at all. That’s a big turn-off, cuz it makes the fights and dangers utterly boring.

Even at the most intense and dangerous times, the listener knows perfectly well that the MCs will be just fine. The author seems to not know how to build suspense. And this is coming from a guy who generally can’t stand suspenseful moments!

Even I am bored by the lack of real danger. Yes, there are new and stronger monsters every hour or 2 of the book, but they are all, including the bosses, dispatched with relative ease. I love light novels, but even those need some suspense!

Overall, I recommend this book if you love seeing the main character be abused throughout the whole book by a fat cat that his cheating b*tch of an ex-girlfriend left before the world sh*t itself.
