Being new to LitRPG I didn’t know what to expect. Imagine playing an RPG while reading a novel about the game at the same time. The story is about gamers who are immersed in a virtual reality game. You have the story of what the character is going through, just as you would in a regular novel, but you are also given gameplay information as it happens (damage taken during battles, leveling up).
The initial story concept is your typical man is betrayed by his colleagues then man seeks revenge. What author Shemer Kusnits has done is breath life into this simple concept. The main character gets stuck in the game and he has to learn how to change his view on the whole system and how to survive. This is a detailed world full of life and excitement.
Narrator Jeff Hays did a stupendous job bringing each character to life. Each character has it’s own voice and his portrayal of Vic, Oren’s guide of sorts, was the best voice in the whole story.
If you’ve never listened to a LitRPG I highly recommend this one. The combination of writer and narrator make this one of the best audio books I’ve listened to. This is the one to compare all others to!
