**Spoiler free review**

Not a bad book, but it was so close to being great. Didn’t spend enough time on the aspects I thought were the best parts. Also, right when it felt like it was really getting good… it ends.

For a stand alone, it certainly leaves a lot of loose ends and unexplored territory that had potential.

A few tweaks (and another chapter or three of resolution) could have made this a 4 or 5 star review.

Also, the narrator tends to make a meal of lines in the slower parts, thus delaying the return to the best bits.

I’m still going to buy the physical copy for my bookshelf, so I would recommend this book to certain friends, with the advice to wait for the big thing to happen. That’s where it starts to really get interesting.
