Actually better than the first book. Reads like Lost in Space, Firefly, and Blade Runner but grittier and meaner.

Thanks to the Fleet, Caleb is back on the extremely dangerous prison planet. Fran goes to rescue him but it’s for her benefit not his. 1001 is in the organisations hospital where a young doctor has recalibrated her. He is enamoured of her and helps her escape. She is determined to kill her father, but when facing him she receives a hugh shock. She still thinks she killed Caleb. After the whole gang gets back together they head to the Black to find the Nine.
