I love that Franklin Horton is able to keep the momentum going, even though this is the fourth book in the series. While it’s action-packed, the situations are still realistic in terms of what could happen during this time period. It is written so well, that I feel like I know so many of the characters, through their actions and reactions. I enjoy that the story doesn’t just focus on Jim and his family, but also on Randy and her family, Gary and his family, Lloyd and Buddy. All the subplots come together so well, the seamless transition is another example of Mr. Horton’s writing skills. Kevin Pierce adds his magic to the story through his awesome narration, drawing us in and bringing us into the book. He had to use different intonation and sounds in this installment, but that didn’t slow him down; he gave us another excellent performance.
