The Age of Embers was a very enjoyable post apocalyptic survival story with a bit of a different take on what is causing the apocalypse than most other novels in the genre I have read. It is pretty action packed from beginning to end and has a ton of great characters who definitely have their flaws but that makes them more interesting. It is quite dark and can be a bit graphic but I think it is done quite well.

Some of the things may be a bit far fetched but it definitely had me believing something like this could happen. I think some character actions or inaction’s didn’t seem realistic at times but that really was minor and who knows maybe I just know better because I have read so many of these books before.

The narration by Kevin Peirce is excellent, I really enjoy his voice and narration style, I have heard a few books by him now and he has done a great job every time.

I don’t want to give anything away in the review but it really was a very entertaining and action packed story that I highly recommend and think it was a great start to a series and can’t wait to listen to the next book when it comes out. One of the books should probably be called Fire and Ice.
