Jack Hunt has stuffed his final book in the ‘Cyber Apocalypse’ series with beginning-to-end action. By turns, the group face a ruthless meth manufacturer, a maniacal biker gang and extremist terrorists, all bent on destruction in the most violent way possible. Can the members of the group survive the violence that surrounds them?

My favorite aspect of Hunt’s books, on perfect display here, is his ability to build up tension in the reader and sustain that throughout the entire book. It makes for a delicious edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting experience. Characterization is not given short shrift in Hunt’s books. The ‘heroes’ are flawed but likeable. The villains’ actions are given believable motivation. The reader is given a conclusion that reveals who is responsible for the attacks on America. The ending is somewhat bittersweet and left a little open, but is satisfying nonetheless.

I’ve listened to several books narrated by Kevin Pierce. His reading style suits this genre well. I don’t think I can explain this effectively, but Pierce does NOT tend to over-dramatization in tone. Somehow, it feels more intimate and real; like he’s recounting his personal experiences to the listener.

Highly recommended.
