Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a Conan the Barbarian style story. The book delivered on the barbarian style savage action and then took it a step further by setting the story in a future post apocalypse with monsters. The world that Robinson and Gilmour created is an interesting and unique theory of what a distant apocalyptic future might look like and that is what brings the whole story
What did you like best about this story?
I liked that the heroes weren’t overly strong and that the author made it known early on that nobody was safe. Also, the pacing worked pretty well, the book didn’t linger anywhere and the groups trials seemed to be well spread out.
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jeffrey Kafer’s narration fit the Viking tone very well. He spoke clearly and firmly with well placed emphasis and timing during action scenes.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme emotional reactions, there are a few moments in fight scenes that get a reaction though.
Any additional comments?
I was given a copy of this recorded book at my request in order to write an unbiased review.
I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from this book, but it surprised me in a good way. It was just fun to listen too, like an action movie in book form. The world that Robinson and Gilmour created is an interesting and unique theory of what a distant apocalyptic future might look like and that is what brings the whole story together for me. I plan to keep an eye out for the next in the series.
